Henry Copeland, Founder, Blogads.com Convinced that blogs would become a revolutionary media force, Henry Copeland began in March 2002 brainstorming a service to connect bloggers and advertisers. Most people called the idea of putting ads on obscure, souped-up personal diaries trivial or idiotic.
Today blogs are recognized as king-makers and breakers, and Blogads.com connects hundreds of blogs with a spectrum of advertisers including Time Warner, JohnKerry.com, The Republican National Committee, The New Republic, Rhino Records, O’Reilly Media, Bagnews and Paramount Pictures. Ad orders range from $10 to $25,000.
Unburdened by an MBA, Henry learned entrepreneurship by trial and error and by reading books like The Innovator’s Dilemma, Sam Walton: Made in America and The Loyalty Effect. He grew up in bucolic Wooster, Ohio and in 1984 received a BA in history from Yale University after nearly failing courses in economics, mathematics and computer science.Henry worked as a bond salesman from 1984 to 1991 in London and New York, and as a journalist from 1991 to 1998 in Budapest, then founded Pressflex.com, the parent company to Blogads.com. Beyond serving bloggers, Pressflex today serves as webmaster for nearly 100 newspapers and magazines across Europe.
